Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chiefs Week 2 inactives: Who’s sitting out, why – Philadelphia Eagles News

KANSAS CITY, Miss. — Both the Eagles (1-0) and Chiefs (1-0) are battling a few injuries entering their Week 2 matchup Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.

Here is a look at the six players the Eagles made inactive for today’s game, with some analysis:

CB Ronald Darby — Darby, the Birds’ No. 1 cornerback, suffered a dislocated ankle in the team’s season-opening win against the Redskins that will keep him sidelined for 4 to 6 weeks.  Patrick Robinson will likely start in Darby’s place, while Rasul Douglas and Jaylen Watkins could step into expanded roles.

DT Destiny Vaeao — Vaeao, the Eagles’ No. 4 defensive tackle, suffered a wrist injury against Washington. Without Vaeao in the lineup, Elijah Qualls will make his NFL debut to fill out the Birds’ rotation along the defensive line.

WR Shelton Gibson — Gibson, a fifth-round rookie, needs seasoning before he’s ready to contribute.

DE Steven Means — Means impressed at times in the preseason and earned a spot on the roster for the second straight season. But with four defensive ends ahead of him on the depth chart, he’ll sit for the second straight game Sunday.

G Chance Warmack  — Warmack’s lack of versatility (he only plays guard) has a role in his inactive status for a second straight week. Seven Eagles linemen will dress for the game.  

WR Marcus Johnson — The Eagles activated two cornerbacks (Dexter McDougle and Rasul Douglas) to account for the loss of Darby, which leaves Johnson as the odd man out. The Birds have four wide receivers active: Alshon Jeffery,…
