Jets beat writer Andy Vasquez counts down the 12 most important Jets in 2017. Today it’s No. 11, cornerback Juston Burris.
Jets cornerback Juston Burris just happened to be standing in the right spot last weekend, when Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s pass ricocheted through a defenders hands and into his arms.
But there was nothing happenstance about what came next.
Without hesitation, Burris took the ball out of the end zone and started running. He weaved through several Bills, accelerated and looked for a moment as if he was headed for a 100-plus-yard interception for a touchdown. Instead, teammate Marcus Maye was shoved into Burris, knocking him down.

But before Burris came crashing to the turf, he had already proven he was capable of making a game-changing play. And that didn’t surprise teammate, veteran cornerback Morris Claiborne.
“I tell him all the time, ‘JB, you have no idea how good you are,'” Claiborne said. “You have everything that you need to play cornerback in the NFL. The size, the speed, the quickness. And I still feel like he doesn’t know what he’s got to work with just yet.”
