Houston Texans Sign OT Jah Reid; Add WR, TE To Practice Squad – Houston Texans News

As expected now that the team has more than three days to prepare for a game, the Texans are doing their best with the little options they have to improve the roster. With the ongoing Duane Brown holdout and the stench of Kendall Lamm’s performance still wafting over the city, the Texans are bringing in another body for the offensive line.

Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports the Texans have signed free agent offensive tackle Jah Reid.

Reid is 29 years old and played his first four seasons with the Ravens before spending the last two with the Chiefs.

The Texans also added to their practice squad with the additions of TE Mycole Pruitt and WR Cobi Hamilton.

Pruitt appeared in 16 games with the Vikings in 2015, starting three. He then appeared in two games each with the Vikings and Bears last season.

Hamilton started eight games with the Steelers last year, finishing with 17 catches for 234 yards and two touchdowns.

The addition of Reid certainly will not have a significant impact on the Texans, but it’s the price they’re paying for absolutely botching the offensive line situation, along with the ongoing holdout of their best offensive lineman.

Pruitt obviously impressed the brass more than Gary Barnidge (that, or a balance of contract requirements), but we’ll see whether he or Hamilton ever actually get a chance to hit the 53-man or the active gameday roster. Considering the injuries at TE and how thin the team is at WR in general, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if one or both gets the call.
