Another strong outing for Adeboyejo: With Tim White out for the season because of a thumb injury suffered in Thursday night’s preseason opener, Quincy Adeboyejo did his fellow rookie proud. During a six-on-seven exercise, Adeboyejo caught a deep pass from quarterback Ryan Mallett over cornerback Jimmy Smith. During a full-team drill, Adeboyejo sprinted past cornerback Robertson Daniel and caught another bomb from Mallett in stride for what would have been an easy touchdown.
Thumbs down and then up for Moore: Wide receiver Chris Moore’s day did not begin well. First, he dropped a pass from quarterback Josh Woodrum that hit him in the breadbasket. Then Moore was flagged for pushing off on cornerback Jaylen Hill while catching a pass from quarterback Dustin Vaughan in the back right corner of the end zone. But the second-year wideout made amends with a sensational dive to grab a pass from Vaughan during a full-team exercise.
Learning curve for Hurst: The torn labrum that will sideline Alex Lewis for the entire season has forced coaches to move James Hurst from right tackle to left guard, and it is clearly going to take him some time to adjust. During a one-on-one blocking drill, defensive tackle Brandon Williams pushed Hurst back into the pocket and then rookie Patrick Ricard executed a swim move on Hurst to get into the backfield.
