Tony Jefferson shines: After being held out of full-team exercises during the first three days of training camp to help him recover from sports hernia surgery, free safety Tony Jefferson offered a glimpse of what he can do. First, the former Arizona Cardinal sniffed out an end-around run by wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and stopped him behind the line of scrimmage. Later, quarterback Ryan Mallett would have threaded a pass to Maclin in the end zone, but Jefferson stepped in front and almost made the interception at the goal line.
Offense and defense make drops: Maybe it was the excitement of playing in front of fans or inside M&T Bank Stadium, but both sides suffered from a case of the dropsies. Maclin appeared to have caught a long pass in the end zone from Mallett, but he juggled the ball and could not grab it before it fell to the turf. Inside linebacker C.J. Mosley seemed to have a sure interception of a pass by Mallett, but he also could not hold onto the ball.
Marlon Humphrey has a tough go: After three impressive practices, the franchise’s first-round pick back in April endured his first rough start, getting beat in one-on-one and seven-on-seven drills. The rookie cornerback appeared to somewhat redeem himself when he stripped tight end Benjamin Watson after he caught a pass. Alas, Watson himself recovered the fumble.”
