NFL training camp notes: Tampa Bay Bucs waive Alex Gray | Sports – Tampa Bay Buccaneers News

Appalachian State alums are in training camps for several NFL teams, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived undrafted rookie Alex Gray on Sunday.

Gray, a safety, and receiver Thomas Sperbeck were waived as Tampa Bay signed former Tennessee Titans safety Marqueston Huff and receiver Jhajuan Seales.

App State has two other undrafted rookies in camps, as linebacker Kennan Gilchrist has made a strong impression with the Dallas Cowboys and offensive lineman Parker Collins is with the Los Angeles Rams.

In other news, former App State defensive end Ronald Blair moved from second string to third string following the arrival and quick rise of rookie Solomon Thomas, the No. 3 overall pick out of Stanford. Tank Carrdine has been working as the first-team end.

A fifth-round pick in 2016, Blair had 16 tackles and three sacks in 16 games as a rookie.

Also, cornerback Demetrius McCray signed with the Seattle Seahawks in January after being with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2013-15. He’s among the App State alums on new teams, joining receiver Brian Quick (Washington from the Rams) and receiver Tony Washington (New England from Jacksonville).
