Jamison Hensley: Ravens no longer interested in Robert Griffin III – Baltimroe Ravens News

Well that didn’t last long. During the Baltimore Ravens open practice at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, team owner Steve Bisciotti said they have discussed bringing in former Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III for a workout as competition at the backup quarterback spot currently held by Ryan Mallet, and to potentially start if Joe Flacco does miss time in the regular-season.

A few hours later however, It seems that a final decision has been made on the possibility of the former rookie of the year coming to Baltimore, via ESPN’s Jamison Hensley

The irony of it all of Griffin making his way to the Ravens would’ve been the fact that his career altering knee injury occurred during his rookie season against Baltimore on a hit by Haloti Ngata. Griffin has been plagued by injuries and poor play which prompted the Redskins to bench him in favor of Colt McCoy and then Kirk Cousins. Last year, Griffin signed with the Browns, but would injure his shoulder in the process during the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury placed him on injured reserve and he would not be activated until early December. The Browns released him after the season.

With the hope that Flacco will be back sometime this week or next, and Ryan Mallet struggling, which of course raised the question of Colin Kaepernick, it looks like the Ravens have crossed off the former Heisman Trophy winner in the list of available…
