OXNARD, Calif. — Cowboys offensive lineman Chaz Green could miss up to two weeks with a shoulder injury, a source said.
Green, who didn’t practice Sunday, won’t require surgery but will not play in the Cowboys’ first preseason game Thursday against Arizona in Canton, Ohio.
The Cowboys moved Green from tackle to guard late in the offseason. Green worked at first-team left guard to end offseason practices. But most of training camp, he’s been working with the second team.
Jonathan Cooper has been working at first-team left guard and now the favorite to win the starting spot. The Cowboys shifted La’el Collins from guard to right tackle this offseason.
Green has been a disappointment in his first two seasons after the Cowboys drafted him in the third round in 2015 out of Florida. He missed his rookie season after hip surgery and battled a sprained foot and herniated disk in his back last season, playing only four games.
