5 Early first-round targets in 2018 NFL Draft – Oakland Raiders News

It may seem a bit early to start talking about the 2018 NFL Draft, but you better believe the Oakland Raiders scouting staff is busy preparing for next year.

Training camp barely got under way, but it’s not too early to start looking at the Oakland Raiders‘ plans during the 2018 NFL Draft. The scouting department is already working on pinpointing some of next year’s top prospects, so why shouldn’t we be doing the same?

Based on what we’ve seen from draft-eligible players, there’s going to be some serious talent entering the league next year. The upcoming draft class is loaded with defensive stars, and also appears primed to offer far more options along the offensive line. There are a handful of high-upside quarterbacks as well, but it’s not like the Raiders need a new signal caller right now.

Still, Oakland has a number of needs that must be addressed in 2018. Obviously those needs could change between now and next April, but that’s neither here nor there. Right now, I’m focused on addressing today’s issues with next year’s draft.

Hence, I’ve put together a list of five potential first-round options for the Raiders. I’ll be working under the assumption that they earn a pick somewhere in the 25-30 range.

Trust me when I say there will be plenty of intriguing talent available at that point in the 2018 NFL Draft. So here are the five first-round prospects I believe the Raiders could be targeting during next year’s annual graduation ceremony to help them retain their “contender” status.
