The Kansas City Chiefs never seem to have it figured out at the wide receiver position. Could Albert Wilson, who will be heading into his fourth year with the Chiefs, be someone who gets cut this summer?
The Kansas City Chiefs shocked many people when they released Jeremy Maclin from their team earlier this summer. The move hurt for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is that it really depleted the wide receiver depth chart.
With Maclin gone, the Chiefs have a lot of questions to answer at the wideout position. One of the guys no one seems to discuss all that much anymore is Albert Wilson. Wilson has never been a shining star for the Chiefs, but he’s done what’s asked of him.
During his previous three seasons in Kansas City, Wilson has caught 82 passes for 990 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a touchdown last year off of a fake punt attempt against the Falcons last season.
With all of the questions at wide receiver, however, could Wilson be one of the guys left out in the cold (so to speak… I know it’s hot out when they do cuts)? Matt Conner of Arrowhead Addict released his list of surprise cuts for the 2017 season and had Albert Wilson first on the list, stating,
Wilson picked up less than 300 yards receiving last year (good for sixth-best on the team), and was hardly a weapon to be feared throughout the year. Wilson can be reasonably considered as the ninth-best pass-catching threat on the roster behind Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson, Jehu Chesson, De’Anthony Thomas, Travis Kelce, Demetrius Harris and Gavin Escobar—not to mention the fact that the Chiefs will likely carry three running…
