Houston Texans bringing in free agent safety Marcus Gilchrist for a visit – Houston Texans News

The Texans are still searching for Quintin Demps’ replacement.

The Houston Texans still don’t seem to be very happy with their situation at safety as they get ready to bring in free agent Marcus Gilchrist for a visit.

The agency that represents Gilchrist made the announcement on Twitter.

The Texans seem to be grasping at straws as they continue to look for a replacement for safety Quintin Demps after he left in free agency this past offseason.

The 28 year-old Gilchrist started his career with the San Diego Chargers after being selected in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Gilchrist spent four years with the Chargers before signing with the New York Jets in 2015.

The Jets released Gilchrist this past May after taking two safeties in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Gilchrist has 383 tackles, three sacks, 26 pass deflections and 10 interceptions during his career so far.

Gilchrist could be a viable option for the Texans. He recorded 55 tackles and two interceptions in 2016.

Gilchrist is not a bad player. His Pro Football Focus grades have been in the 70’s over the past four years.

It was reported in the offseason that the Texans were having cornerback Kareem Jackson work at safety during Houston’s OTA’s. I’m going to guess that it didn’t work out as well as they were hoping.

The Texans also brought in free agent safeties Aaron Williams and Jaiquawn Jarrett for visits this past offseason but didn’t sign either player.
