Day 2 of training camp is in the books, and Day 3 is already underway. If you’re at the facility for it, you know how packed it is today. If you haven’t been to training camp yet and are planning to come, just know that you need to get there early.
As an example, I spent 40 minutes trying to park with a credential, and it was impossible. The media lot was full, the public lot was full, and they’re bussing people over from a nearby Home Depot. I’m sitting in Starbucks because I really needed to get this written, and then I’m going to Uber over there.
It’s a good problem to have. People are interested in the team because the team is great. But get there early if you’re planning to go.
Here are five things we learned from practice yesterday.
1. Reggie Davis is standing out.
Georgia fans, you’ll like this. Reggie Davis, an undrafted free agent wide receiver out of UGA, had himself a day on Friday. He pulled in a couple of stellar catches and got some opportunities with the first team.
“His opportunity is now here,” Dan Quinn said about Davis after practice. “He can really go. He had a nice catch today on a deep ball. When guys prove that they can handle it and have a bigger role, we give them more reps.”
2. Deion Jones is awesome.
3. Picks on picks on picks.
Both Damontae Kazee and Robert Alford had interceptions late in practice. Kazee’s was on a tipped pass from Matt Ryan, but he demonstrated the awareness that had him tied with first round pick Malik Hooker for second in the NCAA last year with seven interceptions.
4. Devonta Freeman’s contract situation isn’t a problem.
