Eagles reportedly not interested in Darrelle Revis – Philadelphia Eagles News

Hold off on purchasing your Darrelle Revis Eagles jersey. The 32-year-old cornerback likely won’t end up in Philadelphia.

“It doesn’t sound like there’s much legit interest as far as that goes,” said NFL insider Ian Rapoport in appearance on NFL Network on Saturday afternoon.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Revis doesn’t make much sense for the Eagles, as previously explained on BGN.

The problem is that Revis just isn’t the player he once was. The veteran cornerback was very honest in talking to reporters about his body was “breaking down.” Pro Football Focus graded Revis 65th out of 111 corners last year. It’s hard to imagine Revis will bounce back considering he turns 32 years old later this week. His best football is behind him.

Another complication with the Revis thing is that he’s due $6 million from the Jets this year after being cut by New York. That money will be offset if he signs a new contract so he reportedly wants $8+ million so he can gain at least $2 million. That would be a lot of money for the Eagles to commit to an aging corner. And that’s assuming he would even want to sign with Philadelphia, who isn’t viewed as a slam dunk championship contender.

The Eagles obviously have a weakness at cornerback. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson acknowledged the team is still considering outside help at the position.

Just don’t expect the Eagles to sign Revis.
