2018 Indianapolis Colts Free Agents Part 3 – Indianapolis Colts News

The regular season may be just over a month away, but it’s never too early to be looking ahead to next offseason.


Jack Mewhort has developed into an All-Pro level guard during his three seasons in Indianapolis. However, he’s coming off of a season where he had multiple injuries and was forced to miss six games.

Mewhort, left tackle Anthony Castonzo, and center Ryan Kelly form a very solid left half of an offensive line that the Colts would likely want to keep together. But if Mewhort struggles with injuries again in 2017, they may have some reservations in giving him a long-term contract this offseason.

Adam Vinatieri is the NFL’s ultimate ageless wonder as he’s still nailing kicks at age 44 entering his 22nd NFL season.

Vinatieri has made over 87% of his field goals in each of the past four seasons, and he’s still able to make a good rate of his longer attempts going 18/23 from over 50 yards over that same span.

Vinatieri is entering the second and final year of a two-year $6 million contract this season. The question regarding Vinatieri is not necessarily about whether the Colts will re-sign him, it’s whether he’ll want to keep playing for a 23rd season in 2018.

Defensive End

Lavar Edwards was waived by the Panthers in the middle of last season. Indianapolis claimed him and he played in five games for the Colts in 2016 totaling 3 tackles and a sack in limited action.
