The Cleveland Browns open the NFL season in 55 days, the uniform number of Alex Mack, who may be the best center in franchise history.
It is now the middle of July, the start of training camp is just 10 days away, and the start of the 2017 NFL season is slowly coming into view.
The Cleveland Browns will open the regular season on Sept. 10 as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers, which is just 55 days away, which corresponds to the uniform number that center Alex Mack wore with the Browns from 2009 to 2015.
Mack was the lone bright spot from the Eric Mangini era and a case can be made that Mack is the best center in franchise history. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Browns, and only missed time when he suffered a broken leg in the fifth game of the 2014 season.
Unfortunately all the losing wore Mack down and he left Cleveland in free agency following the 2015 season, leaving a hole the Browns are still trying to fill.
On that happy note, let’s get into today’s Daily Dawg Tags.
Cleveland Browns news:
The Cleveland Browns are set along the offensive line – except for the right tackle position. But Shon Coleman has the potential to solve that problem.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar never met a defense he could not beat, which is why he is one of the most-clutch quarterbacks in NFL history.
Kurt Warner was available for the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 expansion draft, and believes he could have made a difference if selected.
