With Houston Texans arriving to training camp next week, here are some early camp position battles to watch to open up the season.
Every training camp has fringe players competing for roster spots and the Houston Texans will not be immune to the situation when they arrive to The Greenbrier in West Virginia for training camp. The competition for roster spots will be the main story line throughout camp and the preseason games, but with camp not officially kicked off to this point, which early position battles are catching our early attention?

The top four are set for the wide receiver group but which of these players will bring in the depth for the position is the next question. A couple of things come to mind when dealing with this portion of the roster: these players better understand the offense as an inside or outside wide receiver and contribute on special teams. The Texans have kept five to six receivers during the regular season depending on injury situations, so how many they keep will depend on the value these individuals show during training camp.
The odds on favorite remains Wendall Williams, who has made strong strides in his wide receiver game particularly route running and overall grasp of the position. Dres Anderson has some experience in NFL life, bouncing around on practice squads the past two seasons, but there is something to be said for the rookies the team brought in to fight for roster spots….
