Way-too-early storyline(s): The Browns and Jets meet for the third consecutive season and second-straight time in FirstEnergy Stadium. Last year’s game saw Cleveland fall, 31-28, after building a 20-7 lead at halftime. Since then, the Jets parted ways with several key veterans — including wide receiver Brandon Marshall and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick — and will rely on a several free agent signings and younger players to buoy them this season.

What happened this offseason?
— The Jets parted ways with several key veteran contributors, including Fitzpatrick, Marshall, Eric Decker, Nick Mangold, David Harris and Darrelle Revis. They signed free agents such as former Browns quarterback Josh McCown and cornerback Morris Claiborne, who spent the past five seasons with the Cowboys.
— They used their first two NFL Draft picks on safeties Jamal Adams (sixth overall) and Marcus Maye (39th overall) to help shore up a secondary that finished middle of the pack (17th) last season. Adams, the former LSU star, was widely considered one of the best players in this year’s class.
