If the Eagles want to reach the top of the NFC East this season, they’ll have to bump the Cowboys from their perch. But Dallas appears equipped for another run at the division title, which could make these two late-season bouts highlights of the Birds’ 2017 season.
The Cowboys’ strength starts up front, where left tackle Tyron Smith and center Kyle Frederick lead one of the NFL’s most revered offensive lines, and it extends to their young playmakers. Dak Prescott finished last season with the best passer rating for a rookie in NFL history, while another first-year player, Ezekiel Elliott, led the league in rushing.
A few areas of concern exist on Dallas’ defense, though. The Cowboys struggled to pressure quarterbacks last year and lost a few key defensive backs this offseason, without tabbing top-notch replacements.
Still, linebacker Sean Lee helps hold the unit together, giving many Dallas fans and national pundits confidence that Cowboys are building a juggernaut — one that could cause the Eagles trouble for years to come.
