This is a really good young team with a great future, but that future is headed to Las Vegas. That makes the Oakland Raiders “lame ducks” as long as they play in Oakland. How Raider fans handle this could affect the product on the field.
The Raiders are coming off a 12-4 season and a long awaited playoff berth. They are loaded with young playmakers on both sides of the ball. The offense will take care of itself. If the defense can produce a better pass rush and cut down on secondary breakdowns, this team can be a strong Super Bowl contender.
A dynamic QB and a passing game with a lot of weapons and now a promising Marshawn Lynch power run game bodes well for the future of this offense. It is versatile — the Raiders can attack you in a variety of ways, and it is a tough scheme to defend. They have a young QB who can read the defense and get them into the right play at the line of scrimmage. It is a smart scheme that wants to minimize mistakes. A stronger commitment to the run game will only make the passing game better.
The power run game
When this offense commits to it the Raiders can be very effective running the ball. Here we see three tight ends (two right, one left). They love “heavy” personnel sets. The running back attacks wide right, as the Raiders pull the on-side offensive tackle, who kicks out the outside linebacker and center (who finds the safety on the second level).
