This Pittsburgh Steelers news roundup is led by several stories about running back Le’Veon Bell and his contract negotiations.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo considered which players would fill in if Bell misses time. Fittipaldo wrote:
If Le’Veon Bell decides to hold out, gets injured or gets suspended again, the Steelers would be relying on some players with short resumes to fill the void.
James Conner was selected in the third round, but there are legitimate questions about his durability. He had a major knee injury at Pitt and missed most of the spring with a hamstring injury, though that was described as minor.
Many assumed Conner would slot in as the backup right away given his draft pedigree, but Davis’ strong spring and Conner’s injury might have opened the door for a legit competition this summer.
