Beau Allen (DT)
Season: 4th (2014 7th round pick)
2016 Stats: 29 tackles, 0.5 sack, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pressure (16 games, 3 starts)
Career Stats: 67 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery, 2 pass deflections (48 games, 5 starts)
Allen started three games for the Eagles in place of Bennie Logan (groin) and played all 16 games as a reserve defensive tackle. He finished with a Pro Football Focus grade of 62.1 in 2016, 57th among all defensive tackles.
Allen finished the 2016 season strong with 11 tackles and a 0.5 sack in the final four games.
How Allen performed in 2017 minicamp
Allen did not participate in any of the Eagles minicamp sessions. He tore a pectoral muscle during a weightlifting exercise in March, which would require surgery. Allen is expected to be out until September, but has a goal to return by Week 1 of the regular season.
The injury came after the Eagles and Allen were working on a contract extension. Philadelphia also traded for Timmy Jernigan days before Allen suffered the injury. Allen was set to start opposite of Fletcher Cox prior to the trade.
Outlook for Allen heading into 2017 training camp
Allen won’t be seen much on the football field as he’ll be rehabbing from his torn pectoral muscle in hopes of getting back on the field by Week 1 of the regular season. He’s the top backup defensive tackle behind Jernigan and Cox once he returns.
