It didn’t take long for Stacy Elliott to realize he was looking at something great in his son, Ezekiel.
Stacy says he was just 7 when Zeke, now the Cowboys’ star running back, showed star potential on the field.
“The first time I noticed potential greatness in Ezekiel, I remember he was 7 years old playing little league football,” Stacy said in a video interview with Bossip. “From the beginning, he played running back, and it seemed like every time he touched the rock, he would take it to the house.”
And one other note: Remember Zeke’s legendary crop-top suit look at the NFL draft in 2016? Stacy says he was the one behind it.
“Contrary to popular belief, the famous crop top he got from me. But I’ll let my wife take the credit,” he said.
“True story: An hour before we were going to walk on the red carpet at the draft in 2016, Ezekiel doesn’t even know what suit he’s gonna wear. We’re in my suite and he decides what suit he’s going to wear. And when he puts on the shirt, he says, ‘Dad, what do you think? You think I should wear out the crop top?’ And I didn’t think nothing about it. I said, ‘Go ahead, do it.’ Little did I know that the crop top would become not only a sensation, but it also would become very controversial.”
So what kind of advice has Stacy given his son over the years?
“”The advice I gave Ezekiel really didn’t start before he went into the NFL,” Stacy explained. “The advice that I gave Ezekiel and continue to instill in him was the demand greatness of himself and greatness in everything he does. Work hard, be a grinder. So really I never talk to Ezekiel a lot about being a great football…
