The Philadelphia Eagles closed minicamp last week with 90 players on the roster, but they’re already thinking about how to trim that number by early September.
NFL teams carry 53 players on the active regular-season roster, and the Birds’ moves this offseason to pad depth at key spots could leave the team with more difficult decisions than it faced a year ago. Receivers, pass rushers and running backs who felt secure in their roles last season might not make the cut in 2017.
So, with training camp five weeks away, I compiled my first 53-man roster projection of the offseason.
A couple things to note:
- I’m not counting players who are likely to be sidelined with injuries when the regular season begins…
