Detroit Lions sign third-round pick WR Kenny Golladay – Detroit Lions News

And then there were none.

The Detroit Lions signed the last of their nine draft picks today, inking third-round pick Kenny Golladay to a standard four-year deal.

Golladay, the 96th pick of April’s draft, is a two-time 1,100-yard receiver at Northern Illinois who’s expected to compete for the Lions’ No. 3 receiver spot this fall.

He had an impressive spring, earning praise from coaches and teammates, and has the size and speed to complement Golden Tate and Marvin Jones in the passing game.

“He’s catching the ball well,” Lions coach Jim Caldwell said at last week’s minicamp. “He’s moving well, but he’s learning. He’s young. You don’t get bump-and-run coverages and things like that at this point in the stage of the game, so there’s a lot yet to be determined. But I do think that he’s a diligent worker, he’s serious about his craft. He tries to find every means possible to get better each and every day. So I like his progress, where he is right now, but he’s got a long way to go.”

The Lions signed eight of their nine draft picks within two weeks of the draft, and Golladay’s signing today ensures the team won’t have any training camp holdouts for the seventh straight season.
