The Denver Broncos are a team loaded with talent. Playing in the AFC West division, they’ll need it.
Each year, the successful teams in the league have a player step up like they never have before in order to lead their team to the promised land. Last year, Vic Beasley of the Atlanta Falcons led the NFL with 15.5 sacks, helping the Falcons win the NFC.
For the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, unsung hero James White stepped up to play a crucial role down the stretch of the season. Both Beasley and White had their best years as a professional in 2016.
Here, I have identified five players on the Broncos roster who will have their best year yet in the NFL and who knows, perhaps that will help lead to the team hoisting another Lombardi Trophy?
The name A.J. Derby likely isn’t going to pump a ton of excitement into the minds of Broncos fans, but he had some moments with the team last year while catching 16 passes.
Fans will be calling for rookie Jake Butt to get on the field as early as possible and many others may still be hoping that Virgil Green turns into a receiving threat.
I like the idea of Derby having a full offseason with the Broncos and though I feel Butt will be the better long-term option, Derby will make some plays this season. On top of that, it won’t be hard to surpass his best season in the league, at least statistically speaking.
In his first year in Denver, Kasim Edebali will have a bigger impact than he ever did with the New Orleans Saints.
That is because Edebali will be playing on one of the league’s best defenses, rather than one that hovers near the bottom each season.
