The New York Giants have started their six-week break until getting back together and ramping things up for training camp at the end of July. Most players take some time to get away from the field and enjoy life. This means going to a nice resort somewhere or participating in a wrestling event as offensive lineman Adam Gettis did.
Gettis posted to his Twitter account on Sunday morning that he participated in a Pro Wrestling Magic event the night before and showed that if the NFL doesn’t work out, he always has a future in Pro Wrestling or even the WWE.
The video starts off with Gettis in the stands as a spectator and then he is instigated by one of the promoters, who called him a “glorified backup” in the video. He also asked if they could get Odell Beckham Jr. to show up instead.
It seems scripted and Gettis eventually got into the ring and put a beat down on everyone that challenged him. Luckily, it doesn’t appear that he was hurt and that the entire thing was in good fun.
On the field, Gettis has seen some first-team reps on the offensive line, specifically at left guard when he had to fill in for Justin Pugh, who was “limited” at OTAs.
Gettis doesn’t have a clear role with the Giants just yet but there is certainly a spot for him in pro wrestling when he gets done playing.
