Fans of the Minnesota Vikings can rejoice as the team is reported to be opening the 2017 NFL season at U.S. Bank Stadium in a prime time contest.
While the entire schedule for the Minnesota Vikings has yet to be released, there is already information trickling out about which teams will be playing during certain weeks and whether or not they are high-profile contests.
One thing that Vikings fans were hoping for was opening the season at home. In the previous 9 years, Minnesota started things out on the road 8 times, which is astoundingly uneven in the scope of the NFL.
However, it appears as though the Vikings will have home field advantage in a prime time match-up during week 1 according to a report from the New Orleans Advocate.
Nick Underhill has reported the Minnesota Vikings will be taking on the New Orleans Saints in week 1 during a game that will take place on Monday Night Football. This has since been confirmed by ESPN’s Mike Triplett and Ben Goessling.
While the official schedules have not yet been released, seeing so many reports and confirmations about this game should lead any fan to believe the information is accurate.
